Class Descriptions

Hip Hop
Hip Hop is a rhythmic street– style dance that offers a greater freedom of expression than many of the classic dance disciplines. It consists of several distinct components. Big Sky Dance Works incorporates explosive acrobatics and dynamic expression with smooth, funky grooves and intricate isolations to produce a variety of urban styles seen in today's movies. All classes use age appropriate music and movement.

Jazz
Students are taught the techniques of jazz, including isolation exercises, movement patterns, stretches, strengthening exercises and combinations. Students are exposed to many styles of jazz including classical, theatrical and street jazz.

Lyrical
This class combines grace and beauty with strength and flexibility. Lyrical is an emotional and smoothly flowing dance form. There is a strong emphasis on choreography and combinations are often choreographed to the words of a song rather than the counts. Dancers will have a chance to improve technique while learning to utilize emotion and expression in their performance.

Tumble/Hip Hop (ages 3-5)
This class covers hip hop and tumbling technique with an emphasis on rhythm, coordination, and enjoyment. Students will learn dance steps and choreography and participation skills in a class setting that helps to prepare them for the next levels.

Burly Hop
Burly Hop is an upbeat, girly, burlesque inspired class with a modern spin. This class is designed to empower adult students of all levels and body types. Dance, strut, pose and laugh your way to fitness in a judgment free atmosphere.
